Implementing the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Reading and Writing: Reading Standards 2 and 5 contains three modules created to supplement existing High-Quality Instructional Resources (HQIRs) and to address gaps in instruction for Reading Informational (RI) Texts and Reading Literature (RL) Standards 2 and 5 of the KAS for Reading and Writing. The resources within these modules should not replace district-adopted HQIRs, which are resources aligned to the KAS and grounded in the most current research for reading and writing instruction.
