Integrating Deeper Learning and HQIR to Strengthen Tier 1 Instruction: Modules 2 and 3 Now Available!
The first big idea of United We Learn’s vision for the future of public education in Kentucky is “creating a more vibrant experience for every student.” How do educators provide vibrant student learning experiences? What is needed to establish a system that supports these types of opportunities within Tier 1 instruction? The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is creating a series of resources designed to build understanding of the interaction between deeper learning and a local curriculum through the lens of learning science to help provide vibrant learning experiences for all students.
To further support this important work, modules two and three, Surface Learning and Deep Learning, are now available. The modules focus on building understanding of learning science principles related to each stage, establishing connections to deeper learning, and then providing indicators for analyzing the local curriculum and making smart adjustments. The two modules are being released together due to the interplay of surface and deep learning elements during an instructional module or unit.
All resources currently available in this series are available on the Integrating Deeper Learning and HQIRs page on kystandards.org. The Surface Learning and Deep Learning modules both include a recording, slide deck, and Curriculum Analysis and Adjustment Tool.
Please watch the Standards Newsletter for more information and to access the final module when it is released.
