KRS 158.6453 calls for the Kentucky Department of Education to implement a process for reviewing all academic standards and aligned assessments beginning in the 2017-2018 school year. The current schedule calls for one or two content areas to be reviewed each year and every six years thereafter on a rotating basis.

In accordance with recent review cycles, the digital Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) within Infinite Campus (IC) are being updated on September 9. The previous versions of the KAS for Health Education, KAS for Physical Education, KAS for Career Studies and Financial Literacy, and KAS for Reading and Writing will be archived over the summer.

The revised digital KAS for Reading and Writing will automatically be pushed to districts on September 9 and will be available for use in IC for 2026-2027. Schools wanting to utilize the revised KAS for Health Education, KAS for Physical Education, or KAS for Career Studies and Financial Literacy in IC will need to import the digital standards and utilize the Standards Wizard to select the new set of standards in the settings menu and align standards to courses.

Please see the Import Kentucky Academic Standards into Infinite Campus document for more information regarding the standards import procedure and links to resources supporting next steps.

The KAS in Infinite Campus should be regarded as an interactive digital companion to the official KAS documents. To implement high-quality, standards-aligned instruction, educators should continue to reference the KAS documents available on the KYstandards.org.

Please email Caryn Davidson with any questions regarding the digital standards.
