Grade 8 History Webinar: What do the Kentucky Academics Standards (KAS) for Social Studies look like in practice?

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has partnered with the Bill of Rights Institute to showcase what a social studies learning experience aligned to the KAS for Social Studies looks like in practice. This webinar is designed to deepen participants’ social studies content knowledge and pedagogy.

In this presentation, representatives from the KDE will support teachers in breaking down a disciplinary standard. Then, the Bill of Rights Institute will engage participants in a sample learning experience using their resources. This learning experience is designed for participants’ use in their own classrooms with their students. Webinar participants are asked to engage in vibrant, inquiry-based learning symmetrical to what is intended for the student experience while also reflecting on their practice as teachers.

This webinar will take place on Wednesday, January 15from 5:00-6:00pm ET. Please complete the form to register. Since this webinar is designed to be interactive and symmetrical to the student’s learning experience, we encourage you to attend the session live. All participants who attend the live session will receive an Effective Instructional Leadership Act (EILA) certificate to verify their attendance. A recording will be available on kystandards.org after the event.
