Kentucky Atlas of Phenomena (KAP) Expands with 40 Fresh Resources for Science Educators

The Kentucky Atlas of Phenomena (KAP) has been recently updated with 40 new phenomenon bundles, expanding this valuable resource for science educators across the Commonwealth. Developed by Kentucky educators for Kentucky educators, KAP helps bring science to life through locally relevant phenomena that connect directly to the Kentucky Academic Standards for Science. The site offers varying levels of phenomena connected to disciplinary core ideas making it easy for teachers to explore, understand and apply science standards using real-world examples from Kentucky.

Using local phenomena in science instruction is more than just engaging, it makes learning meaningful and memorable for students by rooting abstract concepts in their own lived experiences. Use this website to support you in localizing the phenomenon in your high-quality instructional resource (HQIR) by helping students relate to the anchoring phenomena through a local context.  Whether you’re looking to deepen your content knowledge, strengthen your use of high-quality instructional materials, or find inspiration in your local landscape, the KAP is a powerful tool for making science relevant and rigorous.   Visit the KAP website to explore the new bundles, revisit your favorites, or learn how to contribute your own.
