The Getting to Know the KAS for Reading and Writing self-paced course on the KYLearningHub is high-quality professional learning, developed by program consultants Leigh Turner and Tina Withorn from the Division of Program Standards in the Office of Teaching and Learning. The course will help educators synthesize the revised standards with research, evidence-based literacy practices and high-quality instructional resources (HQIRs).

This asynchronous course is designed to build knowledge and capacity around the standards to leverage the opportunity to improve teaching and learning aligned with the Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) for Reading and Writing, which were incorporated into law on May 5, 2026, and are set for implementation in this upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
